Today, I want to review Jergens Papaya Lotion.
Product Details: Jergens Papaya Lotion is a lotion that is supposedly from the Jergens brand, even though it is not an original Jergens lotion from the real Jergens Brand.
Price: 1,500 – 2,500 naira for 621ml. Price may vary based on your location.
Let me tell you something. The reason I got this lotion was because of the Papaya content and also, I noticed that whenever I use shower gels with my Vaseline Aloe Soothe Lotion, I develop “Chicken Skin”. See, it’s weird and I cannot explain it.
So, I needed a lotion that could help exfoliate my skin and I was to choose between this Jergens Lotion and Silka Papaya. Let’s just say, I will still try Silka Papaya at some point. I chose Jergens because it was bigger, cheaper and looked more interesting to me than the Silka Papaya Lotion. Also, this is not the “original Jergens” lotion. It is not from Jergens themselves.
To me, this is a daily moisturizer just like any other lotion from most brands, it is moisturizing but not enough for me. My skin still ends up looking white and feeling white even after using this lotion twice a day. Does not lighten the skin, and doesn’t particularly do anything to the skin. It is as plain as it comes. One thing I did like was that it helped reduce the appearance of bumps I had on my skin and definitely helped clear any spots and gave me an even skin tone. (Even though I think it was my shower gel at the time that did more of that).
I used this lotion for about 2 Months in total before letting it go. I got bored before I finished the bottle. I ended up giving the lotion to my sister who is a lot darker than I am and she did not have any issues with it.
- Very affordable.
- Works well for keeping your skin feeling silky smooth after application.
- Smells Heavenly!!!
- Lightweight and does not leave me sweaty or sweating
- Great as an everyday moisturizer.
- Works for any and every skintone.
- If you have very dry skin on your body, you may need to top this with a body oil. It is not as mositurizing.
I really don’t have too much of an opinion on this lotion. It is a regular lotion and serves its purpose to an extent. Knowing that it is not an original from the brand Jergens, I don’t think I will be buying it again.
But, it is a lotion I can recommend to anyone who is on a very tight budget, needs a moisturizer and is not looking to lighten or brighten their skin. This lotion will not lighten your skin or anything, even though it states “lightening lotion”. There is nothing in the Ingredients that also indicates that it has Kojic acid as stated on the front of the bottle. I see all these differences as red flags.
Note that what works for me, may not necessarily work for you. Kindly use this as a pointer when getting these products.
Until my next post, Kisses!
