Today I want to talk about Skin Doctor Carrot, Almond & Natural Witch Hazel Toner.

I struggle a lot with perioral dermatitis, (not all the time) and the regular hormonal breakouts that occur every month. You’d expect I would be used to it but I really was not. Every time I breakout, I changed my skincare routine, which caused more harm than good.

So, sometime last year, I had one particularly bad breakout. It was a combination of pimples/acne and perioral dermatitis. Out of frustration, I complained to someone and she recommended I get a toner, that’s how I came across this skin doctor toner.

What is a Toner? To summarize, a toner is a water-based liquid that is designed to minimize the appearance of pores, temporarily tighten skin, and naturally remove oil and dirt. They are also used to help calm the skin, clean off extra dirt and prepare your skin for other skincare products. Because they are used after cleansing and before application of skincare other products, a lot tend to contain effective and potent ingredients that can help treat different skin issues, including acne, dehydration, breakouts, reactions, irritations etc.

Ingredients: Alcohol Denatured, Aqua(water), Propylene Glycol, Cocamide Dea, Witch Hazel Extract, Carrot Extract, Almond oil, Matricaria (Chamomilla Recutita) Flower Extract, Disodium EDTA, Methol, C1447044, Fragrance.

My Experience: One thing I absolutely love about this skin doctor toner is that it is calming and does not necessarily dry out my face, like other toners I have used. It does not sting unless you have a cut while it helps with reactions and irritations. The chamomile extract, in my opinion, really helps to calm my skin so it doesn’t sting or irritate my sensitive skin further.

I did not have plans to use this every day, only when I break out but I have become quite attached to this toner that I use it every single day since I got it.
This toner is a slow-action toner and it can take up to 3 days of consistent use to begin to see the effects on your pimples and acne. Although, the calming effect is instant.

How to use:  Pour a bit on a cotton ball or cotton pad and apply all over your face, neck and areas where you have reactions. It is mild and hence, I use it in my armpits every day, especially after I shave and my bikini area. It has helped to dry out all bumps I get from shaving.
