I hope you are all doing well.
In my post about skin thinning and skin building, I mentioned collagen and I got a request to make a post about good collagen lotions.
For the past few months, I have been on the hunt for a good collagen lotion and I did not know that collagen lotions were quite expensive but I had to try to find affordable ones. Before I go on, here are a few things you need to know.
Collagen is a protein in the body. Collagen has many important functions, including providing your skin with structure and strengthening your bones
There are many ways to get collagen to the body. We have collagen supplements, powders that are taken internally and then creams/lotions that are applied topically. Today, I will be showing you some affordable collagen creams/lotions I was able to find. Not only are they affordable but they are widely available every where.
Benefits of Collagen on the skin
- Firming and toning of the skin.
- Skin building
- Helps to keep a plump and glowing skin
- Reduce visible wrinkles
- Hydrates and increases skin elasticity.
From my findings online, topically applied collagen are not as effective as internally absorbed ones i.e. Collagen supplements
Here is the list of affordable skin firming, toning and collagen lotions I could find.
Swiss Collagen Cream
Price: 1,500- 3,000 naira
Details: This is one of, if not the cheapest on this list. It is a good firming cream and is also suitable for both light skin and dark-skinned tones. Mostly, it is recommended for light skinned people. It comes in a cup as shown in the picture.
Nive Skin firming lotion
Price: 2,500-3,000 naira
Details: Nivea skin firming lotion is lightweight and also very moisturizing. I used this for a few days some time ago. A friend used this cream as her daily lotion and it was not bad at all. It gave me the moisture I needed but I never considered buying it, as usual, I get bored with lotions.
Dr Palmer’s skin firming and toning lotion
Price: 3,500-5,000 naira
Details: To be fair, I am not sure of the price of this lotion but it is the most expensive on this list. I have never used this but this is a go-to for pregnant women and mature skin. Based on the reviews I have read, It does work wonders to build and plump up loose, saggy skin and even help with cellulites.
Jergens skin firming lotion
Price: 2.500- 3,000 naira
Details: Darker-skinned tones will enjoy this lotion. I’ve heard quite a lot of reviews regarding this particular lotion. It’s a really lovely one. Also, I’ve found on youtube that some people pro-mix this lotion for their skins. They mix it with different oils and whatnot. That’s based on personal preference.
St Ives Renewing lotion
Price: 2,000- 2,500 naira
Details: This is my favourite lotion on this list. I have used it and I guess that’s why I saved it for last. I used this lotion sometime in 2017 and it was a really good one. It is lightweight and absorbs fast into the skin. Although I cannot recall in details what it did to my skin, it was a long time ago. But I do know that it was a perfect everyday moisturizing lotion. It is also the biggest in size in this list.
I hope you find this useful and try these lotions out. Do let me know how it worked for you.
Until my next post, Kisses!
