This post has been long and coming!
Finding my skin has been quite a journey for me and whilst I have made posts and reviews, it has not been easy. As mentioned earlier, I have been wanting to build a skincare routine for myself. There has been a lot of stressing, testing and worrying and my skin is not perfect. Still dealing with spots, dark feet knuckles, etc that have not fully faded but are gradually fading and let’s not mention my chickenpox spots from earlier this year that still sit comfortably on my skin. The one thing I can say is that I have gotten to the point where I am comfortable and happy with my skin.
I have a combination skin that can be very sensitive. My skin tends to get dry quite easily. Also, I am fairly light-skinned and I naturally have soft and thin skin, meaning, my veins pop up and show easily. For this reason, skin bleaching of any kind would cause serious damage to my skin. I can lighten and brighten but that’s about how far I can go and I cannot whiten without having veins pop up, dark knuckles, dark feet knuckles, and the likes. Especially if the product is very strong.
So, to jump straight in, building my skincare routine has not been easy, I went from pillar to post and back. I had bad days, really bad days and now I can say my skin has found its balance and due to few comments I have been getting on how glowy my skin looks compared to a few months before, life is truly good right now.
Disclaimer!!! This skincare routine is personal to me. The products and methods work well for my skin type and composition. What works for me may not necessarily work for you but I hope that you can have an idea of what to use and what not to use and hopefully some of these products work for you as well as they worked for me.
I have added linked more detailed reviews of each of the products mentioned. Click on the links to read them.
My Skincare Routine
The skincare routine consists of the most minimal steps. To be consistent and build something sustainable I had to do this as too many steps complicate things for me and I get to the point where I just abandon everything. The steps include just cleansing and moisturizing but the products for me, make the difference.
Currently, I use asantee papaya soap. Based on my skin type, I was advised not to use all harsh, abrasive and exfoliation products at once to avoid weakening my skin. To balance my sensitive skin out, I have to create a balance between harsh abrasive and mild soothing products. So, to balance I used Asantee which feels mild enough for me. I use this morning and evening.
I apply goji Berry Face Serum on my face and my body I use clinic clear lotion. It helped me lighten my skin and I still use it to date. I am well aware of the fact that there are a lot of mixed reviews with this lotion, but honestly, it works well for me, really inexpensive and that’s why I keep going back to it.
Firstly, I apply the goji berry serum on my face and leave that to dry out a bit. Then, I use white secret face cream which is mixed with a bit of kojic clear cream. For my body, I apply the clinic clear lotion again.
I do not apply the face cream mixture every night as it is quite concentrated and I am not looking forward to any more skin lightening. I apply this around once a week or on days where I’m preparing for an occasion and I need my skin to be very good.
There are products on my list that I want to try out. So, expect some more reviews coming up. If you have any questions leave them in the comments below or send me an email at Hpbeau01@gmail.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
