I hope you are all well…
Today’s review is about Clinic Clear Whitening Lotion and Soap. I came across this lotion in early 2018 while I was at the beauty store. I overheard a discussion from 2 ladies regarding this brand. One said it was her stable cream whilst the other lady said it gave her a whole lot of stretch marks. To cut the long story short, I got curious and bought one for myself. As usual, before anything, I tried to find a review online for it and instead I found so many controversial discussions about this. So, with fear in my heart, I went ahead to give it a try.
Product Details: CLINIC CLEAR WHITENING LOTION & SOAP. The lotion comes in a 400ml bottle as shown. This product comes in a full set. It has oil, soap, lotion, cup cream, and tube cream. I got just the lotion and the soap and used both. It is a product of the DODO Company.
Price: 1000naira. It comes in two sizes 400ml and 1,000ml and goes for 1,000 and 1,800 naira respectively whilst the soap goes for 600 naira. Price may vary based on your location.
Ingredients: Stearic Acid, C16-C18, Petroleum jelly, Mineral Oil, Cetiol, BHT, Vit E, Citric Acid, Parabens, Vit. C, Sodium Sulfite, Fragrance, Coconut Oil, Carrot oil, Ethyl Diglycol, Sorbitol, Kojic Acid, HN. White, Demineralized water.
My Experience: To be quite honest it worked amazingly well for me, I did not react to it and the effects were fast both the soap and the lotion. When I first started using it, I applied it twice in a day, morning and night. But after a week, I began to notice I was getting light, I slowed down to once a day or once every other day. Although I was quite afraid of the lotion in general, to be honest, it was a good buy for me.
- Very affordable.
- The whitening effect is very fast and quick.
- Long-lasting especially the soap.
- The lotion is light and sinks in quite fast without leaving my skin oily or sticky.
- Skin lightening effect is a bit too fast for me.
- The soap smells quite horribly opinion.
- There are way too many fakes out there.
- If and when you stop you will most definitely go darker. This generally applies to all skin lightening products.
The lotion was leftover but I finished the soap. I truly loved the soap. There has been quite a bit of controversy and a lot of bad things have been about products from this company and how their products tend to contain steroids and hidden ingredients like Hydroquinone. Whilst I cannot confirm the claim of the Hydroquinone content, I may not be opposed to the fact that it may contain steroids.
People have complained it gave them stretch marks, white dots, patches on their skin, etc. I did not have any of those issues with it I was just afraid that the lotion would do more damage than good for my skin even though it worked well for me. All I can say is find what works for your skin and use that. There are still people who use this regularly with no issues.
Although, I hope to try out the Clinic Clear Whitening Oil from the set and I will post a review on that as soon as I can bring myself to buy it but as of now, I would say I like this lotion.
I have edited some parts of this review as I realized that I may have not been giving Clinic Clear Lotion as much credit as it deserves. It has invariably become a go-to lotion for me whenever I need a pick me up or when I feel like my skin has gotten a bit darker. Also, I have recommended this lotion to quite a few people who have reported no negative results during their time of using this lotion.
Instead, I would advise that, if you have used this lotion or have been using it for a while with no issues, I would recommend you use it at intervals. Take short breaks in between and you would enjoy the lotion.
