Hey lovelies..

How are you all doing? Happy New Month.

Today I’m taking a plunge into hair care products. I came across Double Sheen around march this year. I am relatively a novice in hair care and knowing the right products is as hard as it gets, it still is.

Anyway, when I stepped into the store I had 3 things in mind to buy and a leave-in conditioner was one of them. I will share the products I use as well as my hair care routine in future posts but today is about this leave in conditioner.

Product Details; Double Sheen Argan Oil Leave-in conditioner claims to moisturize, detangle, strengthen and prevent breakage while protecting the hair from heat. It comes in a 237ml bottle with a spray head which I found a bit cool. It’s consistency is not different from water.

Price; 1,500 naira.

Ingredients; Water, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, cetrimonium chloride, amodimethicone, trideceth -12, witch hazel, panthenol, polyquaternium -10, dicetyldimonium chloride, tetrasodium EDTA, olive oil extract, propylene glycol, angelica archangelica root extract, Arctium appa root extract, chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) extract, Symphytum Officinalis leaf extract, album(mistletoe) extract, Urtica dioica (nettle) extract, arena Sativa (oat) meal extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, salvia Officinale (sage) leaf extract, nasturtium officinale extract, polysorbate 20, DMDM hydantoin, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, fragrance(perfume).

My Experience: From my findings, conditioners and leave-in conditioners are supposed to help make combing and detangling the hair easier so the first day I used Double Sheen leave-in conditioner I noticed it made my hair a bit stiff, combing was smoother but I didn’t like the fact that my hair felt stiff and changed the texture of my hair a bit. I still liked the product. So, to remedy that I made my own little concoction using a bit of the Double Sheen leave-in conditioner, olive oil, coconut oil or melted Shea butter depending on what I had available. That helped to keep my hair feeling soft. I also use the concoction as a spray-on for days I feel like my hair is drying out or when I want to comb it.

  • Helps to detangle and comb my hair a lot easily.
  • Quite affordable
  • Prevents and reduces breakage for those that have extra-soft hair.

  • I still don’t like the fact that it stiffens the hair.

Rating: 6/10

There are no issues with this leave-in conditioner. It’s okay for a default user.
