Hello people!!!

How are you all doing? I hope you are all well.

In my last post, I mentioned the fact that I wasn’t sure if I was going to continue blogging and doing product reviews. Well!! After a brief motivation from a friend of mine, I was able to get a few things going.

Today’s review is going to be about DOVE beauty bar. Now I apologize for not having pictures taken for this product but that is because I was soo pissed that I threw the bar away and gave out the rest of the soap bars I had before I could get pictures of them.

Dove Purely Pampering Shea Butter Beauty Bar is such a mouthful to pronounce but either way, it is from the Dove brand that boasts of 63 years in the beauty and cosmetic industry. They also attribute themselves to producing delicate skincare products. Their product range stretches from lotions, soaps to hair care, deodorants, etc. It comes in this white, curved soap bar. Not pure white though but It’s in the group of whites. Claims to moisturize the skin as well as taking off dirt and is not made of harsh soap ingredients like sulfates.

He

A family friend suggested this soap and according to her,  it was a nice and neutral soap that I would enjoy. To be honest, I had heard a lot about the Dove soap, seen advertisements and I see it a lot in stores but I’d always pass it by. Before I bought them, I went online to try to search for reviews about this soap, and I found quite a lot of good reviews about it which made me feel relaxed, so relaxed that I bought 4 bars and regretted that decision.

Price: 300 naira. Price may vary depending on your location.

Ingredients;Sodium Lauryl Isethionate, Stearic Acid,  Lauric Acid. Sodium Tallowate or Sodium Palmitate, Water, Sodium Stearate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Fragrance, Soduim Cocoate, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Butyrospemum Parki (shea butter) oil, Sodium Chloride,  Propylene Glycol, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Titanium Dioxide CI77891, Yellow 5, Yellow 6.

Pros;

  • Smells heavenly. Your whole bathroom had the scent of this soap and it lasts for quite a whle.
  • It is not drying and you may not need to apply a lotion after bathing.
  • The bar is long-lasting.
  • Very affordable!

Cons;

  • It leaves this slimy feel to the skin after bathing, I was told that’s part the moisturizing effect.
  • Broke me out again!! Now I am back to Asantee soap again!

My experience

I used this bar for around 1 week before itchy pimples started sprouting on my forehead, around my mouth and my nose. It started out looking like scaling eczema before the pimples became visible. After 2 weeks I also noticed tiny rashes on my neck. I immediately stopped when I saw the rashes on my neck and I am back again to my Asantee papaya soap. Asantee soap is more than a lifesaver. I ended up giving out my remaining 3 bars to a friend.

Rating: 4/10

If you have sensitive skin then please be very careful.

Since you will hear a lot more from me, I say to you, Until my next post.

Kisses!
