Hello everyone! I hope you had a lovely weekend! I decided to drop something right before we begin the new week.

Being a skincare junkie and one who loves testing and trying out skincare products it’s easy for me to damage my skin from too many products. So in order to keep my skin as good as it can be, I have a few things I go by and I decided to share them with you.

What we fail to realize is that no matter how many products we buy, no matter how effective they claim to be or how expensive they are, if we don’t have a good skincare regimen and we do not adequately care for our skin these products lose their effectiveness, hence they tend to work against us.

Whilst I am not one to prescribe a skincare routine/ regimen for anyone, I can give a few tips and tricks that have helped me keep my skin looking good. Here they are;

Know Your Skin Type

This, personally, is the first step to any effective skincare routine. Generally, we hear about products, read reviews, try them, and feel disappointed when they don’t work especially when it worked for the individual who recommended it. This is usually because that product in question doesn’t work with your skin type.

So, start from the basics. Oily? Dry? Sensitive?? What does your skin love? What does it react to? What are those products you may have used once that you felt so good in? I would say listen to your skin, it tells you what it likes.

Keep It Simple.

Some people have this false belief that the more the products the more the benefits.  The fewer the products the more the benefits. Keep your skincare stash simple. I personally prescribe having nothing more than 3 active products working in your routine. You also don’t have to spend a million bucks just to achieves flawless skin there are affordable and quality skincare products out there. Also, you can literally DIY anything also! Amazing right!

Simplicity also covers the ingredients list on skincare products. Lately, I am also skeptical about ingredient list in products I buy.

Makeup Must Come Off!

Ladies tend to underestimate the amount of damage makeup residue does to our skin. We either out of exhaustion forget to take off our makeup or don’t take it off completely. Always remember to properly take off our makeup at the end of each day.

Kindly Exfoliate.

This step in skincare has gained popularity over the years due to its benefits. The benefits range from reducing age signs, radiant & glowing skin, removes dead skin cells, lightens skin pigments, and gives a generally healthier skin. There are so many methods to exfoliation I.e scrubs, soaps, spa- baths, sponges, etc. My personal favorite is exfoliating sponges. While there may be questions on how often one should exfoliate, I would recommend  2-3 times a week

Must Moisturize!

Moisturizing is a must when it comes to the skin whether you have oily or dry skin. Moisturizers serve as protectants for the skin.

Sun-Protection.

The rays of the sun are extremely damaging to our delicate skin. Sun-burns are not easy to get rid of either. Sun protection is a must. Have a sunscreen handy.

Consistency.

This isn’t a tip but a rule. I learned the hard way not to believe in quick fixes because they don’t usually last in my experience. Before I can give a review on a product I make sure to use it for a period of 1 month for soaps and 2 months for lotions.

Skincare products like lotions that tell you visible results in 7days I tend to be skeptical about because it takes around a week plus for the skin to actually adapt to a product before results start to show or at least that’s my opinion.

Let Your Skin Breathe

Take a break! Let your skin breathe for a day or 2. I have the habit of taking a day off in a week to just bathe and relax. Usually, on days like this I know I am not leaving the house. No lotions! No makeup! Nothing! Just my bare skin.

Eat well and Hydrate!!

This is not listed amongst my tips or rules because it has become a way of life for me. While I tend to enjoy a large treat every once in a while, I also eat as clean as I can. Our skin benefits from what goes into our bodies. So, I challenge you to eat good and nourishing foods, cut out junk to the barest minimum coupled with proper hydration for a month, and share your experiences.

Those are the rules I follow and honestly, they have worked for me. I do not see them as rules anymore. You could also learn or adapt a thing or two from them.

I used to use asantee papaya soap.
But earlier dis yr I noticed dust something was changed about the soap.
It no longer removes any spot or tan from my face.
Dat soap used to be my magic, even though it was a bit harsh.
Now m really confused on wat to do.
I jst need a sincere recommendation 🙏
