Hello everyone!!

I know I have been MIA for a while now even after I posted for the new year and said I would be constant but I am here to stay! I will try to post as regularly as possible. So look forward to hearing more from me.

My first review for the year is going to be on a product I am so hyped to talk about which is the Asantee Papaya & Honey soap.

A part of my New ears’ resolution is to extensively care for my skin using skincare products that are not only natural but also contain ingredients that would benefit my skin in the long run. So I stopped the use of all skincare products so as to give my skin a break which made buying a good exfoliating soap my first step back into the skincare world.

So after a night searching for cheap and affordable exfoliating soaps, I came across Asantee Papaya & Honey Soap. My cheap ass spirit was so excited.

s-l300

Asantee Papaya & Honey soap is a product manufactured in Thailand and is said to contain Q10 + AHA and BHA which is wonderful for taking off dead skin. For those who don’t know

AHA– Alpha Hydroxy Acids

BHA– Beta Hydroxy Acids

They are natural/synthetic occurring acids that work by taking the top layer off your skin which usually are the dead skin cells, increase the thickness of the deeper layers of the skin thereby promoting skin firmness, smoothness and reduces aging signs. One other thing is the fact that it promotes deeper penetration for your other skincare products.

Price: 350 – 500 naira Price may vary depending on your location.

My experience

I have been using Asantee soap for a month plus now and I feel that’s long enough for me to make a review on it. Honestly, it is the Bomb!

The first night I used it I noticed that my skin felt squeaky clean and dry but my skin felt soo smooth and my face was smooth and soft. No trace of oil! After a week plus I could swear my skin was glowing! It had started clearing the marks and spots I got from previous skincare escapades and after 2 weeks plus I knew my skin had lightened a bit.

INGREDIENTS: Coconut palm oil, sodium hydroxide solution, Papaya extract, Q10+ vitamin C& E + AHA.

PROS:

  • It lathers so well and smells so lovely.
  • Works for spots and marks.
  • Perfect for mild and gentle exfoliation. It is not strong or harsh at all.
  • Brightens the skin after a while
  • Takes of oil and dirt.

CONS:

  • Melts easily and finishes quickly.
  • It can be a bit too drying.

Rating : 8/10

The fact that I could get all that from one soap is just amazing and I did not use any form of body lotion during this time.  The only thing I did was moisturize with coconut oil when it made my skin too dry. I would recommend it to anyone who is searching for a mild skin exfoliating soap that is affordable.

Although, I would strongly advise moisturizing because it can be very drying and reduce exposure to the sun especially when using this soap due to the BHA and AHA. Be careful also, there seem to be a lot of fake ones out now.

Share your experience and leave a comment.

Till my next post.

Kisses.

I really don’t know y dis soap worked so well for me,.
I am naturally fair (but my skin tans easily😒).
Any time I try to use all dese whitening soaps and creams (eg fair and white) dat contains substances like hydroquinone etc.
I get dark.
Wen I discovered asantee papaya in 2016, I started using it with Nivea cream.
And dat was my miracle……. I didn’t need any lighting cream…..Asantee was a saviour…….
Until about 3 months ago, wen I discovered that something had changed about the soap……. Yes!!!!!! Dey changed the formula.😒😒😒😒.
That’s so annoying, I am still looking for a substitute, …….. I don’t know d magic content in asantee dat made it so good for me…….
If u have any recommendation I will appreciate.
One more thing.
Am about to try out the crystal white shower gel u reviewed.
But dat will be just for my body…… (hope to give you a feedback soon)
As for my face, I don’t know what to use yet.
Ur sincerity have made things like this easy for us

    Hi Makky.
I honestly thought I was the only one who noticed they changed the formular. It’s so crazy!! I honestly do not have any recommendations currently. I am hunting for a new soap to try right now and i literally just bought another bottle of Crystal White for my body. I can suggest that and if you notice it doesn’t work well with your face, you can get black soap for your face.

I will post a review if any, as soon as i can get a soap to try out.

      I pray u discover a good substitute🙏.

How was d formula changed? Pls, enlighten me ma.

Half Price Beau · November 18, 2019 at 3:36 pm

        Hi Sonia,
The difference I found in some was that the carton was a bit difference, the scent was different and usually Asantee melts easily when wet but i once bought one that did not melt at all.

All in all, just be careful not to buy fake.

Hello. I discovered your blog today and i’ve been binge-reading!. Your reviews are very practical, useful, genuine and helpful, do keep it up. I recently got “over-tanned” so i have been looking/asking around for something safe to use to lighten and even my complexion as well as clear acne spots on my face. I’m quite fairskinned. Someone recommended Asantee so i started looking it up, and was led to your review. I’m writing to get your view on the soap again based on yours and Makky’s comments above. Is the soap still effective? Did the change in formula you noticed bring about some adverse side effects? is it a Yay or Nay? I’m eagerly awaiting a response. Thank you.

Half Price Beau · September 19, 2019 at 3:37 pm

    Hi,
I am sorry for the extra late reply.
The issue with Asantee is that it has a lot of fake ones in the market, these fake ones are the ones that have their formula changed and they are very very hard to spot.
If you can get the original one from a trusted beauty store then you are good to go. The formula has not changed.

Sonia · November 17, 2019 at 3:00 am

How wud I identify the original?

Half Price Beau · November 18, 2019 at 3:37 pm

    Hi Sonia,
The pack for the original usually has tiny shiny words on it, then the scent is also another way to tell the original.

      Sonia · November 21, 2019 at 9:35 pm

      Thanks so much dear❤💯

      Ruth · November 26, 2019 at 6:27 pm

Plz show me the photo of the original Asantee soap!
Coz I’m also noticing that they changed the formula & it didn’t exfoliate better than it did in the past
I also bought from the trusted supplier since 2013 & the soap gave the best quality

Half Price Beau · November 27, 2019 at 11:32 am

        Hi ruth,
The photo in this blog post is a photo of the original one shot by me.

      Tinah · September 7, 2020 at 2:46 pm

The original has a shiny packeging first of all. Then look for any misspelled words like Made in Thailand. My fake one was reading mead which made me notice something was off. The packaging of the dull one is dull too, its not shiny. You will notice shiny small dots on the packaging of the real one.

Plz show me the photo of the original Asantee soap
Coz I’m also noticing the difference that they changed the formula & it didn’t exfoliate well & not brighten much better than it did in the past
I’ve bought these soaps from the trusted shop since 2012

Half Price Beau · November 27, 2019 at 11:34 am

    Hi Ruth,
You could still be using the original one but maybe your skin has adapted very well that it may not brighten you as much as it would usually. So, no need to worry, if that is the case.

Esther · December 31, 2019 at 10:39 am

I used asantee honey and papaya, when I went to a cousin’s house, and I saw positive changes after using it thrice.
I want to go for it, but I don’t know how to identify the fake or original. I forgot to get mine before leaving her place, and I’m very far from her.
Can online stores be trusted for the original?
Thanks

Half Price Beau · January 7, 2020 at 3:13 pm

    Hi Esther,
I cannot vouch for online stores because personally, I do not buy skincare products online. I like to be able to see and also smell ( weird I know) the products I buy. I would advice you to go into a store to buy your products.

Who has tried d goat milk one? Does it lighten??

Jasmine · July 1, 2020 at 3:33 am

I just bought mine this week, hope it’s the original.
Plz how do u identify the original, and which word did they write with tiny dots?
Thanks…

Half Price Beau · July 7, 2020 at 9:15 am

    Hi jasmine,
I cannot tell you much about the original besides the fact that the body is a bit shiny. If you use the picture I uploaded to confirm, then you should be on the right track.

Hi. I’m light skinned and I need a soap that can lighten my skin. Will ashantee soap get the job done?

Half Price Beau · October 27, 2020 at 11:13 pm

    Hi Ngee,
If you are looking to whiten your skin, Asantee soap does not whiten the skin. It will brighten but never whiten.
